ARTHRITIS
Overview
Arthritis is inflammation(Pain, Swelling and Redness) of the joints.
Types of Arthritis
Their are more than 100 types of Arthritis but the most common is
Osteoarthritis (Age related)
Wear and tear damage of your joints Cartilage - the hard sleek coating on the ends of bones where they from a joint. Cartilage cushions the ends of the bones and allow nearly frictionleess joint motion. But whenever their is enough damage to the Cartilage it results in bone grinding directly on bone, which causes pain, restriction of movement and difficulty in walking.
This wear and tear can occur over many years or it can be hastened by a joint injury.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (Autoimmune)
Body's immune (defense) system attacks the lining of the joint capsule, a tough membrane that encloses all the joint parts.
This linning (Synovial membrane) becomes inflamed and swollen. The disease process can eventually destroy Cartilage and bone within the joint.
